Meals

The course provides three on-sight meals a day. Chef Sat Kartar and his wife Kamalcharan provide a delicious and nutritious lacto-vegetarian menu, which often includes vegan choices and organic produce. From traditional Yogi Bhajan recipes like Beet Casserole and Kitcheri to more sophisticated menus like Portabello Mushroom Galettes with Roasted Summer Salad or Greek-inspired Spinach Turnovers and Tabouleh, along with the occasional treat like Apple Crisp, you won’t go hungry! Also, plenty of Yogi Tea is always available.

The variety of food was amazing—and delicious! Chef Sat Kartar and his wife, Kamalcharan, are maestros in the kitchen! You can feel the love in the food.

Please bring your own dishes (bowl, plate, fork, knife, spoon, mug, cup). Do not bring disposable plates and cups. We take turns serving each other the daily meals, and we all wash our own dishes.

Meet Your Chef Sat Kartar Khalsa

Chef Sat Kartar Khalsa was born and raised as a vegetarian in Albuquerque, NM, where he was voted by his high school classmates most likely to find the cure for cancer. But instead of becoming a research scientist, he devoted his energies to preventative lifestyle measures: healthy lifestyle coaching and gourmet vegetarian cooking.

He has cooked for movie stars like Claire Daines and Richard Gear as well as five star fine dining restaurants. He has worked with doctors, acupuncturists, and leading yogis in menu planning and program development. His passion and expertise lies in combining these two different worlds

Chef Sat Kartar grew up making tortilla pizzas in the toaster oven for his sister and friends. When he was studying at Western Washington University, north of Seattle, WA, he spent more time in the kitchen of fine dining establishments than in the classroom and thus graduated with a “degree” in preparing sorbets and soufflés for intermezzos. After seven years of serving charred meat with extra butter and salt, he decided to follow his passion for healthy vegetarian cooking and in turn, serve people’s highest health, vitality and vibration. Since then he has catered yoga events and teacher trainings and done program and menu planning for cleanses. He and his wife Kamalcharan live in Albuquerque and look forward to serving you.
